Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.

While it is baking, put all syrup ingredients into a saucepan. Bring syrup ingredients to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and allow to simmer for 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
Once the baklava is fully cooked, slowly pour the syrup over the baklava. You may choose to garnish with additional crushed nuts.
Let the baklava soak for at least 5 hours. Store in an airtight container and enjoy.
